Brian Thomas founded Thomas Law in May 2013 and is engaged in the representation of individuals and families that have suffered catastrophic losses due to the conduct of others in personal injury, workers compensation, medical malpractice and wrongful death claims and actions. Prior to forming Thomas Law, Brian was a partner at a prominent Chicago personal injury firm also concentrating on personal injury actions. Over his years in working for Plaintiffs involved in negligence and workers compensation claims, he is responsible for well over $50 million in jury verdicts, settlements, and awards for his clients.

Part of Brian’s past legal experience includes work at a Chicago firm specializing in the defense of lawyers, doctors, and hospitals in malpractice litigation. Brian uses that experience defending claims against doctors and hospitals to successfully prosecute claims on behalf of his clients who were insured as a result of the negligence of others.

When not advocating on behalf of his clients at Thomas Law, Brian mentors junior and high school students on the west side of Chicago and serves on the boards of Towers of Excellence and The Base Chicago. Brian has also advocated on behalf of low-income tenants as a pro bono volunteer and board member with the Law Center for Better Housing. Brian was twice elected pro bono volunteer of the month and once elected Volunteer of the Year.

Brian was named one of Illinois top 40 attorneys under the age of 40 by Law Bulletin, a well-respected legal publication. The distinction was awarded after Brian was nominated and selected by his peers in the legal community. The honor is one achieved by less than 1% of all Illinois attorneys. Further, Brian has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer for the last ten years.

While not participating in legal and volunteer endeavors, one of Brian’s passions is to write. He published his book, The Privilege Race, A Guide to Overcoming Negative Voices and Influences, in March 2024. He enjoys speaking about the book and its themes in front of audiences around Chicagoland. He has been seen on television and the radio discussing his book and, prior to his work publishing his book, he discussed national and state politics on WGN Radio 720AM and WVON 1690AM, as part of work on his successful blog Your Doubting Thomas found on ChicagoNow.

Brian C. Thomas earned his law degree from DePaul University College of Law in 1998. Prior to that, Brian received his bachelor’s degree in 1995 from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.

Brian lives in Chicago’s suburbs with his wife and two children where he is an active member of the community.
